Today I’m wearing OPI Ink. It’s a blue polish with duochromatic microglitter in blue and purple, and it’s from the Night Brights collection. I’m sure every one of you either have it in your stash or have heard of it before, as it is quite popular among nail polish lovers.
And still, I’m not in love. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it is a really beautiful color, but I can’t help but think: This is it? This is the favorite polish of a lot of laquerheads, but I don’t love it like “OMG, I want to marry it and have it’s babies!”-love it. Maybe it’s simply because I had too high expectations?
And am I the only one who hates OPI’s ProWide brushes? I just can’t get it close enough to my cuticles to make a tidy gap, and my nails aren’t exactly narrow! I wonder how you people with slender nails manage to use these brushes.
Disregarding the brush, application was OK. I used two coats, and thats quite enough. But the polish acted so strangely when I was painting my left hand. It seemed like the polish didn’t want to attach to the brush, so I had to keep it in the bottle for a long time and kinda wiggle it around a little bit to catch some polish. The bottle is brand new, so it’s not like I was low on polish either. Weird.
Pictures, you guys!
First, sunlight and shade.

And here’s a macro shot that shows the duochrome glitter:

What do you think of Ink? (Heh.)
Do you love it or hate it, or are you indifferent? And what about OPI’s wide brushes? Please leave a comment.
Your pictures are nice and your gap looks tidy enough to me ^_^ but to tell you the truth I am not a fan of pro wide brushes either because I happen to have quite narrow nails so these brushes are really a nightmare! As for Ink, although I am fond of dark blue polishes, this one has never caught my eye before, it looks OK to me but i think there are others far prettier dark blues out there!
By the way, you’ve been tagged on my blog today
Thank you!
I wish that OPI hadn’t changed their brushes, I have some OPIs with the old brushes, and they are much more comfortable to use!
Thanks for the tag! I’ll get to it soon.
I don’t like OPI’s in the first place, so… I hate prowide brush, there are so many better ones. And the color – I’m indifferent.
Sounds like we’re on the same page then!
I prefer the China Glaze brushes, they work well with my nail shape.
I think the color is just beautiful, have to put Ink om ny shopping list
I feel the same about the prowide brushes though.
Glad you like it!
I also have trouble with the ProWide brushes. I have small hands with small nails, and as you suspected, it’s difficult to polish a narrow nail with this brush. It works okay on my big toe, but that’s it … LOL
I just feel like I have more control with narrower brushes (like those in China Glaze, etc)… the big one ends up smearing polish on my skin around the nail at least once during a manicure.
That’s my experience too, and I don’t have particularly narrow nails. It’s a shame that they changed the brush.
Jag har aldrig provat Ink själv, men jag tycker och att det är överskattat. Det är mörkblått, skiftar lite i lila – so what?
Just det – so what?
I don’t mind the flatness of the OPI brushes, but I do wish they were a little narrower. Aren’t the brushes in the Spain collection supposed to be a bit different? I haven’t compared using the OPIs I have, I’ll have to check it out sometime.
Ink looks nice on you!
It’s a pretty polish, but you’re right, I’m not sure what the frenzy is about. But I guess to each their own, right?
Yeah, the flatness is ok, but I wish they could be like half as wide. Maybe I could snip them in half with scissors?
I don’t have any polishes from the Spain collection, so I don’t know if those brushes are narrower.
To each their own, that’s right!
I haven’t worn an OPI in ages. I don’t even remember if I like the brush or not. I don’t own this polish. I do like it. Pretty with the purple shimmer. I’m not insane over it that I have to have it immediately. I do like it.
Thanks for your input, Lucy!
I agree with you, I like OPI Ink but I don’t understand all the hype. It’s pretty, but it won’t make me stare at my nails a lot during the day like some do. I hate the ProWide brushes, it only works on my thumb and on the rest of the nails I smear polish on my skin.
Maybe we could start a petition to change the brushes back to the skinny ones?
