Today I’m wearing my only pick from the 2010 fall Vintage Vixen collection, China Glaze Ingrid. I’m a sucker for anything taupe or with gold shimmer, and Ingrid has both! Naturally, I just had to have it.
Ingrid is a dark taupe, on the mushroom brown side, and the gold shimmer is more of a hidden shimmer. It doesn’t really show up unless under strong light or in the sun. Nevertheless, the shimmer gives this polish depth, and it sometimes even seems like it’s a little bit olive colored.
The formula is quite good, and it’s opaque in two coats. Me like!
Here’s a comparison with OPI You Don’t Know Jacques and Chanel Particulière. They are in no way dupes, but I thought it would be nice to see how the base colors compare.
How do you like Ingrid? What’s your favorite taupe? Did you like the Vintage Vixen collection, and did you get any of the Vixens?
See you later!
What is there to say about Orly Space Cadet… Honestly, I’m quite speechless. This is such a weird polish, but good weird! I was actually a little scared when I was applying it, because I couldn’t figure out what color it was! Orly Space Cadet, what are you? Are you purple, gold, silver, green, amber, pink, grey, blue or violet? The answer is “all of the above”!
Space Cadet is from Orly’s Cosmic FX collection, and it’s a unique collection that according to the press release combines “natural rock minerals, crystals, and glass to give nails a special optical effect”. And it’s a special effect, all right! Pictures can’t really convey how weird and wonderful this polish is, so for the first time ever, I’ve made a video!
(The screaming at the end is Gizmo being impatient with me and my nails again.)
The formula is excellent, and it’s opaque in three coats.
Even with the video and pictures, I can’t really capture all the chameleon features of this polish. This is something you really have to see for yourself! By the way, I think I know why it’s called Space Cadet, because when you wear it, your hands fly around trying to catch the light at different angles. Don’t miss out on this one, it might very well be the new Clarins 230 aka Unicorn Pee!
Hope you’re having a great weekend, thanks for looking!
Now here are the results from my guessing game!
A lot of you had guessed that my mystery polishes were OPI DS Chiffon, Chanel Particulière, China Glaze Thunderbird and Misa A Sin Worth Committing.
The first prize winner, who gets OPI Absolutely Alice and OPI Jade Is The New Black, is…
And the second prize winner, who gets OPI Absolutely Alice, is…
Thank you so much to everyone who participated, this was great fun! I hope you liked it, too.
Just a quick post to update you all on the status of my Guess The Polish contest!
The contest is now closed, and I’ve drawn two random winners. I’ve contacted them by email, and as soon as I get the replies, I’ll come back with the results and announce who gets the prizes. (Provided they reply within 24 hours, or else someone else gets the chance.)
I used OPI Baby It’s “Coal” Outside for my manicure, I love the silver glitter in this one. For the accent nails I painted my ring fingers with two coats of regular white creme, then stamped with Konad image plate m73. I used Gosh Nero for the design, and this polish is actually perfect for stamping. That’s good to know.
Quick, simple, and hopefully I’ll get a few laughs tomorrow.
Thanks for looking!
