Linda Johansen Nail Candy Mannequin & Speedy Top Coat
I have something quite unusual for you today, nail polish from Norway! Linda Johansen Nail Candy is a new Norwegian nail polish brand which is Big 3-free. The line was released this spring consisting of 12 different colors plus basecoat and topcoat. 4 times a year the palette will be updated with new colors, some which will be added to the core line and some which are limited edition.
I got the chance to try one of the polishes from the core line, along with the quick dry top coat. The color is called Mannequin and the topcoat is called Speedy Top Coat.
Mannequin is a neutral beige opaque creme, described on the website as “Hands that are gorgeous and glossy, that look expensive and exclusive. This is the polish you’ll wear for that executive interview. A timeless and trendy color that’s always elegant!”. I would describe it as soft and work appropriate, and it lives up to its name by being a really flattering “mannequin hands” color.
The formula is really good, not too thin and not too thick. Pretty much perfect, I’d say, and that’s a big plus for me, because I always battle with these nude, “no effort” colors. I needed three coats to get it completely smooth and opaque without any bald spots. The only thing I didn’t like, to be nitpicky, is the round and quite stiff brush. I prefer a flat brush, so this one isn’t my favorite.
I used the Speedy Top Coat over this mani, and I’m quite pleased with it. It does what it says on the tin, dries quickly to a shiny, glossy finish. It’s not as fast drying as Seche Vite, more in the league of Poshé. I’m also impressed with the wear of the topcoat, I wore this mani for a night at work, and it’s still shiny and there are no chips.
Linda Johansen Nail Candy can be found here, and in select stores around Norway. The price is NOK 139,- a bottle (11 ml/0.37 fl.oz). For my international readers, I’m happy to say that Linda Johansen does ship internationally. The website is just in Norwegian right now, but an English site is due to come up in November.
All in all, I have to say that I really like the formula of this line, and even though the selection of colors and finishes is a bit limited at the moment, I’m really curious to see what will be released in the seasonal collections. But I have to say, that unless they come up with something really unique, I wouldn’t personally be choosing this brand, just because of the steep pricetag. Though, if you’re looking for basic, classic colors and don’t mind the price, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this line.

The formula looks amazing! So smooth and glossy! I think I’m too pale for this shade but I see lots of pretty purples and a beautiful red in the group bottle photo that I’d love to try if I could get my hands on these pretties.
The Cherry one looks juicy!
I see that the fall collection is up in their web shop now, lots of new exciting colors!
