All That Glitters Very Peacock-ish
I can’t say how excited I am about all the artisan nail polish brands that are popping up everywhere nowadays. I bet you all know Lynnderella by now, but there are lots and lots of other nail polish creators out there whipping up what I think is the most exciting polishes in a long time. Trust the true nail polish nerds to create the stuff that really makes a lacquerhead’s heart beat a little faster!
My heart sure skipped a beat when I saw this post about All That Glitters nailpolish over at the Trace Face Philes. I fell head over heels with these beautiful glitters, and before I even had time to think, I was placing my first order over at Kirsten’s Etsy store.
The package arrived today, and I couldn’t wait to try them. The first one that found its way onto my nails was Very Peacock-ish, which according to Kirsten has a blue/green pearly base with small blue and green glitters in various colors, shapes and sizes as well as gold and black opal (black/navy/dark purple) large hexes scattered throughout. I have to say she’s captured the essence of the bird perfectly, it really is like having a deconstructed peacock on my nails! (That sounds pretty awful when I think about it, but I promise you it’s a lot more glamorous than it sounds.)
Glitters like these tend to be very “fluffy”, so I decided to layer it over Zoya Cynthia instead of getting it opaque on its own. One generous coat is really all it takes, because it’s packed with lots and lots of good stuff.
Applying this polish is rather tricky, though, as the large hex glitters wants to stick to the walls of the bottle. I had to fish around for them, but in the end I got a pretty nice distribution of the different shapes of glitter. (Pro-tip, try putting the bottle upside down for a while before you start polishing.)
All That Glitters nail polish can be bought here, and the price is $8 a bottle. If you live outside the US, just send Kristen a message, and she’ll get right back to you with ordering details and shipping prices. The customer service is excellent, I really recommend shopping with her!
What do you think of these handmade nail polish brands? Do you want to see more, or do you think this is just a passing trend?
