How do you make an awesome mani even awesomer? ADD GLITTAR!!!
I thought Candeo Mallard would be a match made in heaven for Rimmel Mania, and I was right. Mallard’s shimmery semi-sheer lilac base loaded with purple shimmer, silver, lime, and green hex glitter looks gorgeous over Mania when it shifts from deep blue to green. I’ve said it before, but I have to say it again; I’m so impressed with the color combinations of the Candeos. Melinda comes up with mixes that sounds like they wouldn’t work at all, but it all comes together so beautifully, and I think all the Candeo bottles I own are pure magic.
The formula is as usual impeccable. It’s thin enough to spread easily on the nail, but not too thin, and the glitters are all very well suspended in the base. Shown is one coat of Mallard over Mania.
Another reason I’m happy I got Aqua Lily, is that it’s the perfect underwear for Candeo Oceania. Oceania is almost a glitter version of Aqua Lily, and they compliment eachother gorgeously. It has a clear base with medium white, matte teal and matte lavender hex and an added dash of small matte aqua hex.
This isn’t as glitterbomb-y as most indie glitters, so you can do one coat over a base color for a subtle effect. I wanted a bit more, so I did two coats of Oceania over Aqua Lily.
The formula was good, and it was easy to spread the polish over the nail. The glitters didn’t need to be dabbed on.
I have another one from my favorite indie brand for you today, this is Candeo Dolce. I was lucky enough to snag this before the brand exploded in popularity, but unfortunately this color has been discontinued. I didn’t know whether to post this or not, but I thought you’d might like to see it anyway. Who knows, you might just be lucky and get it in a swap or a blog sale somewhere!
Dolce has a cotton candy pink base with dark pink shimmer and multiple sizes of white, holo purple & silver hex and bar glitter. Also, holo silver half moons are in the mix. (Description from Melinda, the creator of Candeo.)
You could definitely layer this one over something if you want to preserve the pretty, but I wanted it to look exactly as it does in the bottle, so I used it on its own. This is three coats of Dolce.
Super duper cute and pretty!
What do you think of posts with old, discontinued or hard to find polishes? Would you rather see stuff you could easily get, or do you like to see pics even if the polishes can be difficult to get? Please let me know what you think!
Candeo is sailing up as my new favorite indie brand, I’m constantly impressed by the creator’s keen eye for unique color combinations, and the formulas are flawless. Definitely one of the top tier indies, in my opinion!
Candeo Joker is another work of art, it has a clear base with multi-sized and different shades of purple glitter and large silver hex glitters. My pictures are useless in showing how beautiful this really is, but they’ll have to do. This is two coats of Joker over Sinful Colors Zeus.
Application is nice and easy, the glitters are not hard to get out of the bottle and they disperse evenly on the nail without any problems. A thick coat of Gelous topped with Seche Vite makes this mani glassy smooth.
PS! Don’t forget to check out my blog sale!
I don’t know about you, but I for one am really happy this ABC series is nearing the end! Because when I was looking at my spreadsheet desperately trying to find a suitable polish for today’s post, I was like:
So then I decided to just show you something random instead.
This mani started out with 3 coats of Bloom San Francisco, a gorgeous blue green shimmer I got in a swap with the lovely Kristy from The Polish Haven. San Francisco, also known as Bianca, is such a stunner, but it’s impossible (for me, at least) to capture it on film. Check out Steffels’ droolworthy pic of it, and you’ll understand why I just had to have it!
Frustrated by my lousy photography skills, I figured that my nails needed to be filed, and grabbed my trusty glass file and went to town. The resulting nubs cried out for something blingy, so I added a coat of Candeo Colors Plumage. Plumage has a sheer base with silver shimmer, green, turquoise and dark blue hex glitter, plus also seafoam square glitter. It looks awesome and is also nice and easy to apply.
Stay with me, we’re almost there now! Finally, I added a coat of Essie Matte About You, and here’s the result!
Whew! I hope you don’t mind me straying from the format, stay tuned for the conclusion of this series!
