The other day when I was rooting through my box of mini polishes to find the colors for my frankens, this little colorbomb caught my eye. This is Depend Nr. 196 from last year’s summer collection, and it’s a beautiful, bright apple green creme. I couldn’t get it out of my mind, so I had to put it on before going to a friend’s house for card games and drinks yesterday. Of course I lost all the time, but I don’t think the polish was to blame.
Unfortunately, the formula isn’t very good at all. The first couple of coats are very streaky, so I had to kinda glob the third coat on to cover all the bald spots. It ended up very thick and uneven, but smoothed out with top coat. Because my polish was applied so thickly, I got a lot of bubbles in my mani. I don’t think you can see them in the pictures, but they are there. It’s a shame, because the color is really cool.
See you later!
I have a lot of polishes from Depend, but as you might know, the bottles are really small (5 ml). I was quite annoyed with the small bottles and unwieldy brushes, so I figured I could use the polishes to make something better. So I decided to franken them in some OPI bottles, because I just love the OPI brush.
The first franken is made from three pink polishes: 198 (light pastel pink), 200 (rosy peach) and 201 (pastel peach). I used one bottle of each, and filled up the rest with clear. This resulted in a bright peachy pink creme, so of course I called it Bubble Gum.
The next franken is called Grace, it’s a blueish grey creme. I love this so much, it reminds me of MAC Blue India. I used two bottles of 159 (purple creme, a little brighter than GOSH Wild Lilac) and one bottle of 169 (dark grey creme), and topped it off with some clear.
This was quite hard to capture, and these pics are not totally color accurate. It’s not as blue in real life, think more grey.
I was a little disappointed in this at first, because the first swatch looked straight up grey. So I had to put it next to another grey polish, and then the blue popped right out. Here’s a comparison with China Glaze Recycle.
So there you have it, my franken escapades of the day! I have to gather up some more empty OPI bottles now, the Depends are awesome for frankening!

I just stopped by Depend’s website, where I spotted the promo pics for the new fall collection. Check them out!
Do I spy a Chanel Steel dupe (206)? I’ll definitely try that one! Which ones do you like?
Today I’m going to show you one of my choices from the Depend summer collection 2010. I think this is such a cute collection, the colors just scream summer. You have everything from pink to green to blue, beautiful summer colors.
I chose Depend Nr. 200 to show you first. This is a rose pink creme, I don’t have a dupe for this in my stash. Very pretty and unique, it almost has a kind of slight dusty quality to it. I know I say this all the time, but this is a real summer polish!
Now, please excuse that big fat bubble on my index finger! It’s not Depend’s fault, it’s because my topcoat decided to be stupid.
The formula isn’t as flawless as I’m used to with Depend. I almost wonder if they’ve changed their formula, because the summer collection polishes don’t smell as plastic-y as the other Depends I have. This is of course just speculation from my side. Depend Nr. 200 has that pastel syndrome, so it’s wont to bald spots. I tried swatching it on it’s own, but it plays so much better with a basecoat to grip on to and a topcoat to smooth everything out. I’ve used two coats of color here.
What do you think of Nr. 200? Which colors did you like from Depend’s summer collection? Please leave a comment!

I was in such a summer-happy mood yesterday, the sun was shining and it looked like we’d finally get a nice weekend. After swatching the Golden Roses, I quickly put on Depend Nr. 34 to really celebrate the beautiful summer day. Well, today it’s freezing and raining outside, but I guess it’s still nice to have a bright color on my nails to look at.
Depend Nr. 34 is an eye-searingly bright pink neon creme, and it’s of course impossible to capture on picture. Sure, it looks like a bright pink, just try to imagine the neonest pink you’ve ever seen, and you’ll see the awesomeness that is this polish. This will look so great with tanned skin!
The formula is good, not too bad considering it’s a neon. Two coats, and it’s opaque-ish. I can still se a hint of vnl, but I don’t mind it.
Well, I had to take it off anyway, because now I’m going to work again!
Have a super friday!
