I hope you’ve all had a great time during the holidays, and that your new year’s was fun, sparkly and safe. I’ve had a really nice Christmas, celebrating with my family and friends. I wore China Glaze Ruby Pumps for Christmas Eve, I just had to have my staple red glitter for this evening.
I was really overwhelmed with all of the gorgeous and creative New Year’s Eve manis I saw on the Makeup Alley nail care board. I wish I had time for something as impressive as mirror nails, rhinestones and glitter gradients, but because I was working the night before, that was out of the question. I ended up slapping on 3 coats of OPI Mad As A Hatter, a really glittery and fun mani after all!
I still haven’t removed the glitter, so today I spruced it up a little with a funky french in two of the main glitter colors, green and purple.
I used Misa Dirty Sexy Money for the green and GOSH Deep Purple for the purple. I used french tip guides from Kiss to create the funky french, but you could just as easily use Scotch tape. (Check out Chloe’s Nails for the most impressive “Scotch tape manis”!)
What was your NYE mani? Do you have any nail related new year’s resolutions?
Thanks for stopping by, have a nice day!
Misa Dirty Sexy Money is from the Living In The Fast Lane Collection of spring 2009. It’s my second Misa after A Sin Worth Committing, seeing as Toxic Seduction broke on me before I even had a chance to try it.
DSM is a really unique color, it’s a dusty, grungy, almost-minty green creme, unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. I’ve never been big on the mint trend, but this is special enough that I felt my heart thump a little when I saw swatches of it.
There’s no sun today, so I only have pics taken in overcast daylight or lamp light. My camera isn’t very fond of greens, so the color isn’t totally accurate, it’s greener than in these pics.
The formula is really nice, it’s easy to control, and it’s almost opaque in one (thick) coat! I added two coats to smooth everything out, but it really benefits from a smoothing topcoat as well.
Another thing I like, is that it’s quite easy to clean up, it doesn’t smudge and discolor the skin when I use my brush with acetone. A lot of blues and greens are horrible when it comes to cleanup, leaving your fingers a colorful mess.
Gizmo wasn’t too happy when I was disturbing his 10-hour nap too take pictures of my stupid nail polish.
This was a nice variation from all the pink, I hope you liked it, too!
Thanks for stopping by!
Happy new year, everyone! I hope your celebration will be fun and sparkly, but safe. :)
Here’s my new year’s mani, Nfu-Oh #50 over Misa A Sin Worth Committing. Really sparkly and fitting for an evening like this, don’t you think?
What polishes do you sport for New Year’s? :)
Thank you all for stopping by in 2009, see you again in 2010! :D
Hi, everybody, I’m back! I’ve had a lovely autumn vacation in Norway, it was so nice to see my family and friends again (and the cat!).
Back in Qatar, I had no less than three bottles of Essie Matte About You waiting for me in the mail. I’m so excited, I want to matteify everything! I particularly love the way glitters look matte, so I have a lot of stuff to play with now.
For this mani I used Misa A Sin Worth Committing and Make Up Store Lava with a coat of Essie MAY. Looooove!
Please disregard my gnarly cuticles, I’ve been a bad girl and chewed on them.
Also, my index finger nail is so short because it suddenly just fell off while I was sleeping!
Enough with the excuses, on with the pics!
Isn’t this just the coolest thing ever?! :D

I was experimenting with my Lava yesterday, trying how it would look on it’s own. Well, the result was kinda like I had been out in the snow for ten hours without any clothes, because my nails looked frozen blue. But sparkly, nonetheless.
After that fiasco, I had to put on something that definitely has color, so I picked Misa A Sin Worth Committing. This dark blue shimmer is from the Poisoned Passion collection. First of all, I love the name, and of course the color itself is gorgeous. When you’re inside, the polish looks like a creme, but when the light hits it, the beautiful, deep shimmer appears. It reminds me of a blue WnW polish I had in high school, that definitely brings back memories…
The application is so-so. The polish was really thick, so I had to put 2-3 drops of thinner in it right away. Still, it felt thick and runny at the same time, but I guess that’s the Big 3 free formula for you. I put two coats over basecoat with Poshé on top. The color is really rich, so if you’re lucky, you could get away with one coat. I had to even it out with two, as mentioned.
