Nfu-Oh 39
You didn’t think I was done with the bling yet, did ya?!
When I started getting into nail polish jewelry making recently, I got a fresh, new craving for flakies. I studied the bottle pics at Viis Ilusalong long and hard (that’s what she said!), and I eventually decided that I needed Nfu-Oh 39 in my life.
Nfu Oh 39 is obviously a flakie, and the flakes change from bright green to indigo blue. The base is sheer, so it’s perfect for layering over other colors. Today I have layered it over my trusty black creme, GOSH Nero.
The formula is quite thick, but since it’s meant for layering, it’s not too bad. I used two coats over black here, but I think maybe just one coat would have been more striking. There’s a lot of flakes here, so a thin coat goes a long way.
As I said, I bought this at Viis Ilusalong, where the price is € 7.50 or $ 9.90 a bottle for the Opal Series (flakies). Nfu Oh can also be bought at FabulouStreet, at $12.50 a bottle (I’ve never shopped here myself, but I know a lot of people who have). Just a heads up, I recommend using PayPal if you’re buying from FabulouStreet, as some people have experienced problems after using their credit cards there.
Do you still think flakies are awesome, or are you tired of these now? What new finishes do you wish to see in the future?
Green²
What do you do when you have on a polish that is green, glittery and uglyawesome? Make it even greener, glitterier and uglyawesomer, of course!
For today’s glitterbomb I covered China Glaze It’s Alive with Nfu-Oh 56 and CND Gold Sparkle. The result is überblingy!
What do you think? Too much, or just enough?
Purely Amazing Layering Combination!
I’m going to a party tomorrow, so I needed something sufficiently blingy on my nails. I decided go for layering some of my awesomest polishes, why have only one when you can have three? I’m not going to blabber on about this, I’m just going to tell you that this is 2 coats of OPI Let Me Entertain You, 1 coat of Nfu-Oh 51 and 1 coat of Kleancolor Chunky Holo Purple. Please click on the pics to embiggen, and enjoy!
In other news, I was lucky enough to be able to place an order for no less than 9 Lynnderella polishes tonight! I think her shop was open for around 1 minute, it’s totally crazy! She’ll be open for business again when she’s sorted through the first orders, though. I see a lot of glitter and bling in my future, I can’t wait!
Nfu-Oh 54 and Zoya Charla
Since I’ve started making nail polish jewelry, I’ve fallen in love with flakies all over again. So after browsing the online store at Viis Ilusalong some months ago, I knew I had to have the beauty that is Nfu-Oh 54. A while later, I managed to get it in a swap, and there were much rejoycing.
54 is from the Nfu-Oh opal series, or “flakies” as we nail polish buffs call them. It has a sheer teal jelly base, and the flakes change from turquoise to electric blue. It’s very similar to Nfu-Oh 50, except for the base color, but the base is very sheer, so it doesn’t really make that much difference which one you choose.
Because of the sheerness, I had to find the perfect “underwear” to showcase this polish. To my horror, I didn’t own a single polish that mimiced the seagreen base color of the Nfu-Oh. But then I figured out what would be perfect, and that was Orly Halley’s Comet. Too bad I had already sold that to a friend of mine. *facepalm* Instead I decided to get the famous dupe that started the frenzy with blue/green “mineral fx”s last year, Zoya Charla from the Sparkle collection.
I know, I know, I hated Halley’s Comet on me when I tried it the last time, but for some stupid reason I love Charla! That’s my wishy-washy brain for ya. Here Charla is on her own.
The formula is ok, but a little bit runny. I’ve used two coats here, but if I’m going to wear it on its own, I’ll use three coats.
Zoya Charla is a stunning beauty on her own, but when I added two easy coats of Nfu-oh 54, magic happened. This is a match made in nailpolish heaven, the combination turns this mani into a sparklefest of epic proportions! It’s like the prettiest mermaid’s tail you’ve ever seen, a galaxy of glitter and color-changing flakes! My pictures do not do this justice, but still, feast your eyes.
What do you think of this combination? Do you have any other layerings that blow you away?
Nfu-Oh 49
Hello everyone!
I’m sorry my blog has been so quiet lately, but I’ve been away on vacation for a week, and it’s been really busy here after I got home. Anyway, things are back to normal now, so I hope you want to see some of the stuff I’ve gotten lately.
One of the polishes I ordered before I went to Greece was the flakie Nfu-Oh 49. I bought it from Viis Ilusalong, which I figured out still ships to Norway, yay! Number 49 has a very sheer rosy jelly base, and the flakes are mostly peachy coral/orange, but they shift in green, purple and blue as well. I figured this would be too sheer on its own, so I layered it over OPI Lucky Lucky Lavender. I just adore how flakies look over light colors like this.
This is of course a layering polish, so the sheerness works to its advantage. It’s just packed with flakies, so this is just one coat over the base color! You really get a lot of bang for your buck with this one.
In other news, I’ve made a spreadsheet of my polish collection here. Feel free to check it out if you like, and please let me know if there’s any polishes you’d like to see on my blog. I’ve also recently bought the new Bundle Monster set, so if you have any suggestions for stamping combos, that’s also very welcome!
Thanks for stopping by, it’s nice to be back!
Love, S.
