In between diaper changes and feeding, I found some time to do a little purge, so I updated my blog sale!
There are lots of goodies up for grabs, so check it out!
Jenn, one of my readers, asked if I could swatch Pahlish My Oblivion, and of course I can! It just takes a while to get around to it, but finally I managed to squeeze it in. ;)
My Oblivion has a royal blue jelly base with various sizes and shapes of holographic gold glitter. It looks a little similar Toxic and Timeless, but T&T has a more teal base with yellow and blue glitters.
I used four coats to get My Oblivion opaque, I thought I was done after three coats, but the fourth coat really made a difference and made it deeper and more alive. The formula was a bit tricky, I had a hard time putting it on without getting it all over my skin and cuticles. It’s not because it’s runny, rather the opposite. The polish felt kinda “bouncy”, it was difficult getting it close to the cuticle to create the gap, and it seemed like it pulled away from the skin when I moved the brush over the nail. I decided to just paint into the skin instead, and rather do cleanup to get a nice gap. It was easy enough with my trusted e.l.f. concealer brush and pure acetone.
To get this mani smooth, I used two generous coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food (which dries matte) and one thick coat of Seche Vite for shinyness. The mani is totally smooth and glasslike a day after application, so it seems like Glitter Food really works!
Chaosophia wanted to see Pahlish Toxic and Timeless swatches, and I guess great minds think alike, because that was the polish I had already put on my nails!
T&T has a seaweed green jelly base with small iridescent glitter, large blue/lime/chartreuse hex and blue/chartreuse bars. It’s such an awesome glitterbomb, just looking at the bottle makes me kinda breathless. It’s like staring into a parallel galaxy.
I decided not to layer this over anything, because I wanted it to look as deep and glittery as it does in the bottle. This was achieved with three coats of T&T on its own. Now, this was challenging to apply, to say the least. Because of the sheer amount of glitter in the base, the consistency of the polish was more like oatmeal. I had to get creative to get an even application, so there was a lot of dabbing and pushing around even with cuticle sticks.
I added a bunch of thinner to the bottle (two big droppers full of Seche Restore) after doing this mani, and it looks like it would apply much better now. I rather prefer it to be too thick though, it’s easier to thin it than to thicken a polish that’s too thin with sinking glitter.
Last week the rest of my various orders came in, so now I’m properly overwhelmed by indie gorgeousness. Here’s a little picspam of the stuff that appeared in my mailbox.
First we have a couple of Pahlish polishes, Toxic and Timeless and My Oblivion. These are not new, but they weren’t in stock when I placed my last order, so I snagged them when I saw they were available again. And don’t you just love the new label?!
Next up is three bottles from Rainbow Honey‘s Sakura Matsuri collection. I got Koi Pond, Sakura Matsuri and Hanami. I’ve been lemming these for so long, and I was thrilled when the collection finally got back in stock!
All That Glitters recently released a new collection called The Princess Collection, and of course I had to get a few of those. My picks were Kissing On A Frog, Arose From A Sleep and Not A Prize To Be Won.
Finally, I managed to get my hands on Lynnderellas from the newest collection Sweet Somethings for a Summer Solstice. As you may know, these are now only available on eBay for buyers in the US, but luckily I got a friend to help me “mule” them over here. I got six of these this time, as I’ve snagged Common Sense in a private sale earlier.
The first three are Deep Blue Seeing, When The Moon Was A Star and 50 Shades of May-Be.
And the other three are The Garden of Even, Glass Houses and A Neutral Party.
