Today I have a combination of two very cute pastel polishes for you.
One of them is a franken I made with Essie Mademoiselle. I thought it looked a bit too much like one of the OPI NYC Ballet polishes, so I added quite a few drops of OPI Too Hot Pink To Hold ‘Em to the bottle, turning it into a cute bubblegum pink jelly. I called it Mademoiselle F, the F is for franken, obviously.
This is nice and easy to apply, and I love that Essie drugstore brush! I wish all Essies could have them, the regular salon brush is way too thin for me. You’ll need a couple of coats of this for a subtle pink wash (perfect for french manis), but since my nails still have a lot of stains, I used four coats here.
I can’t just leave a blank canvas like this, so I picked out Happy Hands Motherboy from my untrieds drawer. This mix of pastel satin glitters in green, aqua, baby blue, pink, and lavender is from the Arrested Development inspired collection called “I’ve Made A Huge Mistake”. It looks super cute and delicate over this pink jelly, a really nice combination!
One coat is enough, and it’s nice and easy to apply with a little bit of dabbing here and there.
Happy Hands nail polish is sold on Etsy, the price is $8 a bottle.
Lately there have been so many sales, group orders and new collections and indie brands popping up, so I’ve been hauling left and right! Now, the packages are starting to trickle in, and it’s like Christmas and my birthday every day when I check my mailbox. I thought I’d show you a little bottle pic spam of the stuff I’ve recieved this week.
Cult Nails had a sale recently, so I took the opportunity to make my very first order with them. I got Captivated, Enticing and Princess.
Noelie just released a new Smitten Polish collection called Confection, inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I got Candy Kisses and Confection from the new collection, Winter Is Coming from the Game of Thrones inspired Ice and Fire set and also Pink Lemonade.
Kristi from Happy Hands also has a new collection, this one’s inspired by Arrested Development, and it’s called the “I’ve Made A Huge Mistake!” collection. I’ve only ever seen a few episodes of AD, so I don’t get all the references, but the polishes are just so gorgeous! I got Motherboy and I Just Blue Myself.
Another new indie brand for me is Oopsie Daisies made by Cathryn of hot.pink.aurora. She has made a collection inspired by the MMO game Planetside 2. I have no idea what the game is about at all, but the polishes are super gorgeous! I bought Soldier of Fashion and Cosmic Ruins.
And finally, we have three gorgeous holos from the Italian brand Layla. Emerald Divine, Ultra Violet and Misty Blush. I was lucky enough to get in on a forum group order for these, so thanks for all your help, Jess!
Now my only problem is trying to choose which awesome polish to wear first! Which one would you pick?

Recently my friend Kristi launched her nail polish line Happy Hands Nail Polish, and her first collection is called Greetings from Florida. The four polishes in this collection is inspired by her area of Florida, which isn’t all beaches, bikinis and sunshine. I was lucky enough to be able to pre-order directly from her, and I got two of the four polishes. I couldn’t wait to put these on when they arrived, and I hope you’ll like them as much as I do!
The first one I tried is called Afternoon Thunderstorms. This is a stormy gray jelly with two sizes of black hexes and golden shimmer reminiscent of lightning strikes. You all know I’m wild about gold shimmer, so naturally I had to have this! It’s definitely a different summer polish, but when I put it on, I realized it reminded me of seagull’s eggs. So it’s kinda summery after all.
Afternoon Thunderstorms was really easy to apply, and the glitters are extremely willing to come out and play. They distribute easily and evenly on the nail. I used three thin coats to achieve opacity. The end result is a tad thick on the nail, especially since I had to use four coats of top coat to even out the bumps. I think I’ll try layering it over a grey creme next time, the glitter is dense enough that one coat is sufficient to get the effect. The gold shimmer is also very visible in bright light, but my pic is in the shade, so it barely peeks out. It’s beautiful, though!
The next polish I got is called Springs. This is a chilly & serene turquoise jelly with small aqua hexes, algae green medium hexes, and shimmering medium silver holographic hexes. This is pretty unique, I haven’t seen anything like it! It makes me think of swimming pools and fizzy drinks.
This was also really easy to apply, although I had to dab around a little bit to distribute the bigger hexes on the nail. Because of the sheer jelly base, I layered this over China Glaze For Audrey, which is the perfect match for Springs! This is two coats of FA with two coats of Springs.
You can purchase Happy Hands Nail Polish in Kristi’s Etsy shop, which opens this Saturday (7/14). Polishes will be $8 a bottle.
